| The DDP MicroPress host solution is based on the fact that huge amounts of host data sent to the MicroPress server via TCP/IP connections can be processed there as any other data. The true strength for host data lies in the clustering architecture.
Clustering enables you to distribute the print data to several printers. Assume you have 3 DDP 70/92 printers each with a capacity of 70 and 92 resp. ppm. If you split the print data into 3 pieces, you thus have a print capacity of 210/276 ppm. Imagine how much of your budget you need to spend to purchase one 210/276 ppm cut sheet printer? You'd then still have no backup. If - with the DDP clustering - it really happens that one printer breaks down and cannot be used for printing, you still have two other machines, leaving 140/184 ppm for absolutely necessary items to print.
